QOTD: Do you like a little plot with your romance or a little romance with your plot?
Me? A little plot with my romance, of course. I crave that HEA like an addict, always looking for my next fix. I love the passion and the tension that romances stir up. Waiting anxiously to see if two characters will overcome their stubborn pride and admit their true feelings brings it all together, making it worth the wait.
Have you ever picked up a book because it made you think of something? A song or maybe a television show?
I initially requested I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting on NetGalley because it made me think of Fixer Upper and I am completely obsessed (in a good, non-creepy-stalkerish way) with Chip & Joanna! They’re just so adorable.
So then I stumble on this book and it has all my favorite things – a steamy romance, flipping houses, and strong characters. That’s right. The main character, Rian (with an I, not a Y) wants to start flipping houses with her sister. Pretty ambitious. Then you have Pierce, a rich guy (who doesn’t act like it), whose brother is trying to get into flipping houses, as well. What an interesting coincidence. Add in the steam and you have one amazing love story!

I absolutely love books set in the Hamptons. No, not for the richey part. I just love the idea of always being able to live on the water. And it adds something extra to the story, especially the steamy on the beach parts that end in itchy bug bites! That was hilarious!
Pierce and Rian (with an I, not a Y) . . .
How could you not love these characters? Pierce is soooo sexy and I love his devotion to his family. Things suck for him at the moment, because of an oops with the patent on the dolls his family makes, but he’s trying to make the best of it. And the way he tries to get Rian to go out with him is just the sweetest.
Then you have Rian. She keeps to herself. She doesn’t let anyone in, because the moment she does, they find out about her family and what her parents did and they take off running. So, she lets herself flirt with Pierce but when things start getting serious, she starts getting scared that he’s going to take off, just like everyone else has.
She and her sister have had a seriously rough life but I admire her for her strength. She’s taken care of her sister, even when no one was there to take care of either of them. Strong female characters will put a book over the top and Rian did that. No contest.
What about the plot?
Flipping houses, billionaire rich boys, steamy love story. What’s there not to like about this story? Everything about the plot for I Flipping Love You worked for me. Okay, except maybe Pierce’s brother. I got a teensy bit annoyed with him a few times because, in my defense, he gives off this seriously obnoxious impression of only caring about himself. But just a teensy bit.
As for the twists and turns in I Flipping Love You . . . I flipping loved them. They kept the plot moving forward at an excellent pace. No boredom here.

Moment of Truth – Did I Flipping Love You live up to the hype?
That’s an unconditional YES! There was nothing (except for Pierce’s brother) that I didn’t like. I loved the romance. I loved how Rian is SO OVER GUYS when she meets Pierce and then sparks start flying between them immediately. The sexual tension and the attitude of the characters toward each other was perfect. Amazing! I loved it all.
